Here’s the cover of my debut single, ‘Don’t Get America Wrong,’ showin’ the American flag in the shape of the USA on a rustic wooden background. It’s a reminder of what makes this country great.
‘Don’t Get America Wrong’ – A country song straight from the heart, about unity, strength, and comin’ together.

Hey y'all, it's Tucker Gentry.

I'd like to talk about something that's real close to my heart-my new song "Don't Get America Wrong." The words to this one were written by my close friend MJ. He wrote every single word. It was his vision, his message; I just had the distinct honor of bringing it to life with music. We worked together on the creative of the music and MJ also produced the track just to make sure it would hit just right. The song dropped here in the U.S.A. on July 4th 2024-Independence Day-and then hit worldwide on August 16th 2024. The timing simply couldn't get any better with the elections comin' up.

What Don't Get America Wrong Means to Me

This song speaks to something we are all feeling right now: division. MJ's lyrics captured that confusion and frustration we see in this country. We got folks on the left, folks on the right, and somehow both sides seem to be right and wrong all at the same time. But this ain't just a song about pointing out the problems. "Don't Get America Wrong" is an appeal to action-a challenge. It asks one huge question: How do we come together when we're so far apart?

That's what MJ wrote of, and that's what I'm singing about. But I didn't just sing the words; I had the opportunity to really dive into the music crafting the melodies and the sound so the emotion behind those words hit deep. Bringing MJ's lyrics to life was something special to me. Then it clicked, with the music and the words, and I felt like we were onto something, really speaking to the times facing America right now.

Diversity: America's Strength

One of the biggest themes in "Don't Get America Wrong" is diversity. MJ wrote from the heart. America is full of differences-people, voices, perspectives-but those things are the very things that make us strong. We are a tapestry of cultures, experiences and stories from big cities to small towns. It is that diversity that gives us our power. And it's what brings this song to life. It's a message deeply resonating with me and so many people across the country.

Listen Without Bias - Lead with Empathy

This song ain't just about pointing out what's wrong. It's about how we fix it. How do we move forward? It's in the listening-really listening-without bias. MJ captured that perfectly in the lyrics. It's about open minds, open hearts and recognizing that deep down we all want the same things: Freedom. Security. Unity. A future for our kids. We can't lead with anger. We've got to lead with empathy. When we do that we can start to heal.

July 4th U.S.A. Release and Worldwide Drop August 16th

'Cause some y'all might be wonderin' why July 4th U.S.A. and then worldwide drop August 16th, right? We thought long an hard 'bout that: Independence Day-it's about freedom, unity, all the things that make America amazing. This song's about holdin' on to those values even when it feels like the country is divided. It's about finding a way to bring us all back together. With the elections coming up, it's the perfect time to remind ourselves of what's really important. That's why the U.S.A. release felt so right for July 4th and taking it worldwide on August 16th gave this message an opportunity to reach people across the country and the world.

The Chorus: A Challenge and a Reminder

Now let me discuss the chorus. It's the heart of the song and I pray it's something that will stick with y'all long after the music fades. "Don't Get America Wrong it's the land of the free the strong." That's what it all comes down to. MJ's words make us stop and consider what has gone wrong in this country yet they tell us at the same time that we have the power to set it right. Each one of us. This song isn't about politics; this song is about people: coming together to find solutions which work for us all. And that, I think, is a challenge we all should take seriously.

A Song for Every American

MJ wrote this song for every American out there no matter where you're from or what you believe in. It's personal; it's real. It's about love: love of this country, love of the values we hold dear and love for one another. It's not about who is right or wrong. It's about us as a people coming together to make things better. This song speaks to my own experiences, your experiences and the stories that we've all shared. And at the end of the day, America stands strongest when we stand united. "Don't Get America Wrong" reminds us of that simple truth.

The Future is in Our Hands

In my opinion, it is in our hands-the future of this country. "Don't Get America Wrong" is not just a song but an idea. It is an idea of hope and unity found on the simple belief that what is broken we can fix if we come together. Whether you are from small-town America or big-city America this song is for you. It is about finding common ground, embracing our differences and moving forward as one nation.

Just listen to the song. Reflect on it. And let's make sure we get this great country of ours straight.

"Don't Get America Wrong"-Land of the Free. Strong. Together.
